The Vagina Monologues
So for those of you who have not heard of this play. A lil intro.
The Vagina Monologues is written by Eve Ensler who is an activist, playwright and performer. It seeks to create awareness around the issue of women's rights. It also honors female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery . This piece gives voice to real women's deepest fantasies and fears and it will change the way you percieve a woman's body and think of sex ! I guarantee you that !
This play was in conjunction with V-Day in Minneapolis.V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions written by Eve Ensler.
Was thinking of maybe starting V-Day at Penang ! Anybody interested? =)
For more information , check out the V-Day Homepage !
And since someone forgot to take some videos *ahem ahem! * , I shall have to lift one from YouTube instead !
This is a excerpt from "The Woman Who Loved To Make Vaginas Happy" , performed by the talented *and exceptionally gorgeous !* Jennifer Beals with Ilene Chaiken, Daniela Sea and Alexander Hedison for the V to The Tenth show . No, this was not the Minneapolis show. Sigh.
This is a more funny piece ( about sexuality ) but there are more serious peices that talked about rape and violence against women. It was a very good mix of both. Look it up if you're interested ! I'm sure you guys will like it as much as I did. And if anyone wants to borrow the book (when i get back of course ) , do feel free to look me up ! =)
