Marriage is a union of spirits

I was having a short conversation with Chan on MSN just a few minutes ago and

decided to look up on Hinduism and Homosexuality. The thought occured to me
because of all the material I read on the "Banning" of Gay Marriage , I never saw
anything quoted from any Hindu scriptures.

So I googled it and did some research and no , i did not find any specific
scriptures or verses that opposes homosexuality. There is a lot of mention
about the "third gender" and same-sex relations but nothing that says ,
" If you are a homosexual , and engage in homosexual acts , you are heading
for iternal damnation"

Interesting to note that some people perceive homosexuality as a modern
conception and did not "exist" in ancient times. Sanskrit is the oldest written
language,as far as religion being written down, and as far as organized religion
is concerned, Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world. And it talks
plenty about homosexuality and diversity of sex and sexuality.

So i am guessing homophobia in India (highest population of Hindus.Duhh)
was more of a western import made strong during the colonial times through
British laws.

Of course there are people who oppose these views, as always. But I
think they're just a bunch of high-nosed people, prancing around on their
moral high horses, looking for a chance to exercise their superiority over
some other groups of people.

And I like this quote, I'm not sure who said it, cant remember his name but its
some holy dude for sure.

"Marriage is a union of spirits, and the spirit is neither male nor female"

Anyways, I have to sleep now.

Disclaimer: This post is not intended to boast religious superiority over any other religion.
I don't really give a fuck anyway .
